POLYGONES EVERYWHERE Polymarket has driven 50–77% of recent transactions/gas on Polygon in multiple periods. High-frequency/short-duration markets (often 5–15 minutes), retail betting surges (e.g., Oscars, elections, sports), and automated/bot trading (including AI agents executing 1,000+ orders/second) are fueling the volume. Eventually, Polymarket will be on its own chain. Losing Polymarket will likely be a massive blow for Polygon. Polymarket first revealed plans to migrate from Polygon PoS in December 2025 (right after a Polygon outage disrupted trading). A team member (Mustafa) confirmed in their official Discord that building and migrating to their own Ethereum L2 called POLY is now the "#1 priority." They also plan to drop third-party providers (Alchemy, Goldsky, etc.) and fully control their infrastructure.
