Aimee Villella McBride, Executive Director of the Global Wellness Forum, was honored to speak during yesterday’s press conference with @GovRonDeSantis on the final day of Florida’s 2026 legislative session to discuss protecting medical freedom for Floridians. Throughout this legislative session, the Global Wellness Forum worked extensively to support SB 1756, the Medical Freedom Act. Spending months educating legislators, meeting with policymakers, testifying in committee hearings, and mobilizing grassroots advocates across the state to ensure the voices of Florida families were heard. Thanks to the dedication of many advocates and lawmakers, SB 1756 passed multiple Senate committees and ultimately passed the Florida Senate. While the bill stalled in the House before the close of the regular session, Governor DeSantis announced the Legislature will return for a special session to finalize the state budget and address remaining priorities, including medical freedom protections. This presents an important opportunity to continue advancing this legislation. We are grateful to the many Floridians who called their representatives, traveled to Tallahassee, testified in hearings, and shared their personal stories in support of medical freedom. The Global Wellness Forum remains committed to supporting policies that protect parental rights, informed consent, and the ability of individuals and families to make their own medical decisions.
